Not only is our Elder Snyder serving in the same mission as did his older brother, but he is living in the very same apartment in Junction City as did his brother. He is following in some pretty great footsteps!

Preach My Gospel Training

This training was held for our newest missionaries and their companions, those missionaries who came to the Oregon Eugene Mission from the MTC with the June 26th and August 7th transfers. Using Preach My Gospel, President Young taught them about reaching their potential as a missionary, as a master teacher, and as a spiritual individual.

Elder Snow taught us about the Holy Ghost and that having the Spirit in our missionary work is directly connected to our obedience. He also taught us the chain of missionary work from Finding to Retention. He told us to bear our testimonies as we teach, to use the scriptures, to be confident and to speak from our hearts.

Elder Williams and Elder Ewell discovered they were cousins when they met at the new trainer training. They were so excited to find each other!

The old car arrived June 10, 2011 with only 26 miles on it. 13 months later it has 50,100 miles on it. That's a lot of traveling around the mission!

"Miracle Monday was a miracle! We never ran out of things to do and were able to work hard throughout the whole day. The highlight of Miracle Monday happened at the end of the day when we went to visit a family we have been working with for quite some time. Now we have finally have been able to commit the father to live the word of wisdom so that he can baptize his children."

"It was a good day for visiting with part-members. The first one we have been visiting/teaching for 2 months and the husband has never sat in on the lessons... until Miracle Monday! We had FHE with them and it went GRRRREAT! He even got to see us give a priesthood blessing to his wife."

"On Monday we were at the taco shop and we met this lady in line. She knew who we were. She said; 'Hi Elders!' She said she was a member and hasn't been to Church in 20 years. She wanted us to go to her house and teach her family. That's what it's all about!"

Last February the Oregon Eugene Mission was selected to install and test in all our mission vehicles a driver monitoring system called TIWI. Since the installation vehicles accidents in our mission have remarkably declined!

Exact Obedience

District Leader, Elder Levacque gave a lesson about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and how they buried their weapons of war as a sign that they were now very obedient unto the Lord. He made swords for the district so each missionary could write upon his sword those things that might be holding them back from having successful missions. They then buried their swords as a symbol of their faith and obedience.

At Zone Leader Council President Young taught the missionary leadership about REAL GROWTH, where our wards and branches welcome our new converts with warmth and care. He stressed the importance of not only bringing new members in through the front door, but taking care they don't leave by the back door.

President and Sister Young: June 28, 2011 marked a new era as we joined the missionaries in the Oregon Eugene Mission. We are excited to get to know the missionaries, join in the work and share our vision for this part of the Lord's vineyard.
